Such wonderful like minded people after a horrible Panorama.

A charity called The Edithellen foundation came down to see me from Norfolk this week. Both of the wonderful people running the charity have each been through their own tragic journeys of failures from the care systems. Watching panorama was tragic to see but often not seen by the people who need to see. Also people afraid to speak out is another problem, things really need to change. Inspectors only see this snapshot and most of this looks good but is only happening for their benefit, once they leave behind those closed doors will often return to poor practices. The idea of cameras is all well and good but how will this be possible in 70 bed homes because most abuse and neglect happens in bedrooms not communal areas? Good care starts at the top and this means Managers and Regional Managers listening to staff and having their fingers on the pulse. If only those holding the purse strings would do a long shift once in a while to see how limited your time is trying to meet residents needs, also the affects this has on them.
